Mert has been Fire Marshall, and his friendly timing of tire drills has gotten us out of several tough spots in Physics class. He's an exceptional iazz trumpeter, although he tries to lzeep it a secret most of the time. In the I947 football Campaign he was a dependable asset as the team's center, while on the basketball court he is lxnown as Ambidextrous Mert. His one great mishap in lite is his station wagon. It always seems to tall apart at the wrong time. MARY E. D'IMPERIO We can't remember exactly when Mary Evalyn started amazing us. From 'way baclr she's been our top-notch linguist, bar none. G.F.S. couldn't satisfy her hunger, so German, Welsh, and Russian. talzen up on her own initiative, rounded out her course of study. At hockey practice she battles our crashing shots by good goal-lneeping. But that's, not her most startling accomplishment. She's frequently been seen deep in conversation in the Library. and never a word of reproach from Mrs. Springerl The reason? She's chatting with Mrs. Springer, plotting the next assembly program of the Library Committee. The senior boys lrnow what we're talking about. For behind that learned visage lies a sense ot humor that can hold our attention as well as any other. With this, of course, go those qualities most usually associated with John-brains and a lcnow how that has brought forth the statement from an authority that lt John asks a question, let him answer it because he is more lilrely to lznow the answer than anybody else. To this achievement' goes a fine athletic record and membership on the Pastorian Board and Service Committee.
