California State Teachers College Pennsylvania State University University of Pittsburgh Administration Superintendent's Message Youth is the most valuable time of life. This is the time of preparation, the strengthening of one’s resources and the establishment of ambitions which lead one on to the richest possible service in later life. Youth is a period which we can- not afford to neglect. The best place for youth, therefore, is in school. There is no investment which pays so large a return as an education. The door to Democracy is unlocked by education. Of all our great American institutions, none so well illus- trates the meaning of democracy as does our public school system. Also, everybody in the community has a personal stake in the future of his home and his homeland. The school children of today are the adult citizens of tomorrow. What they learn, how they learn, and their environment while they learn will determine the kind of world they will build on the structure we have reared for them. German Township Schools aim to train you in democratic ways of living. If you cultivate loyalty to your school, you will be loyal citizens to your township, commonwealth, and nation. D. J. MORRIS—Clerk to the Hoard of Education Principal Message The task of guiding the faculty and student body is a tremendous undertaking with very little thanks and appreciation. Yet, there is a certain amount of self- satisfaction in doing a job well. The philosophy of our school has been the training of the mind along intellectu- al lines and while giving that training to include a worthwhile program of extra curricular activities, both social and ath- letic. The administration sincerely hopes the lessons which you have learned in school will be of great value in solving life’s many complex problems. High School Principal GEORGE J. When the key to the Senior Class was presented to us last year, we resolved to carry out the duties and privi- leges which were entrusted to us. And now, we, in turn as graduating seniors, would like to pass on these high traditions of scholarship, citizenship, fellowship, and many others too numerous to mention, to the class of 1957. We ask that these traditions, which have endured so long, and which we have tried to fulfill to the best of our ability, continue to flourish under those who will follow us, and that they exist as long as German Township High itself.
