“
Foreword,.. We, the members of the Staff, have tried to take you by pictures through the halls and around the grounds of German Township High School and to record for you the events of a school year in this our thirty-third edition of The Laureola creeping slow to school—'” 2 THE LA UREOLA The scIioqI we love the best, is German Township High, And far above the rest, her flag will always fly. We’ll guard her emblem well, that none may float ahead Of Alma Maters banner fair, the Black and Red. (Harmony—Loud) Oh!-Black and Red we love thy fair, fair fold; A treasure that each son and daughter sacred holds. Then proudly wave as years go fleeting by The emblem of our dear old German Township High. (Unison—Maestoso) Hail to the Alma Mater that we love, And love her well, as each can tell, Hail to the flag that floats above them all. The Black and Red must float ahead, Hail, to the motto that we love the best, “Scientia Potestas Est.” Wave Red and Black forever. Falter may you never Dear Old German Township High! Thy praises we will sing, Oh! Alma Mater dear, Our songs and cheers shall ring, for you from year to year, The lessons we have learned in life shall be our guide, And may we all, at duty’s call, turn back with pride. J. B. Sheetz 3 A Tribut... MR. SAMUEL W. SHUSS The 1952 Laureola Staff wish to pay tribute to a person who has endeared himself to the hearts of German Township High School students both for what he has done and what he is. His dignity and straight forward sincerity demand the respect of everyone who comes in contact with him. His true friendliness has warmed our hearts, and his gracious courtesy is always evident. Mr. Shuss, may the years ahead bring you as pleasant associations as have been ours with you. 6 BOARD OF EDUCATION M. J. MIHALLIK, President DR. J. H. Mr. Gabrin SENIOR CHRISTMAS ASSEMBLY Excitement in the dressing rooms, A play is on tonight; Hurry, scurry, go the actors, Questions come from left to right. “Mr. Wright, where did you put the powder? “Where’s my moustache. Where’s my wig?” “Let me see that script again, please” “Have I made my nose too big?” Lots of worry, lots of trouble But it almost always pays; One thing we for years remember Is taking part in plays. 72 3 n NIVINH I OCTOBER 4 J.T.H.S. 7 TRINITY 13 German suffered its second setback of the season and was ousted from the WPIAL Class A race in losing to Trinity, 13-7, at Washington. German was the first to score and they did it early in the open- ing period. The Hilltoppers roared back with two first-period touchdowns, and although neither team scored during the remainder of the fray, those 13 points were enough to shatter German’s hope for a Class “A” Championship. Trinity led, 9-4, in first downs. Aecbi OCTOBER 12 G.T.H.S. 0 NEW BRIGHTON 13 A poor kick and a blocked punt proved disastrous as German succumbed to big and formidable New Brighton, 13-0, on the winner s field. The Uhlans put up a stub- born battle in the first half but in the second half the roof fell in and the breaks were against them. New Brighton led, 13-3, in first downs. three ut c° .. appY quattef .8 co ford, tVve V 8 NOVEMBER 10 COACHING STAFF Left to right: Mr. Rozzi, Mr. Rifenburg, Mr. Johnson, Mr. Donnelly. Left to right.
