SENIOR CLASS HISTORY On September 3, 1943 some three hundred excited and not a little bewildered newcomers awaited entry into German Township High School with high hopes for the coming years. Little did we realize the events that would follow. There would be times when conscientious work would be required of us and times when we could laugh and be care free. It was amazing how well we accomplished both traits, for our class displayed a quality of co-operativeness and unselfishness from its early beginnings. To embark on our career as Freshmen, we chose Ruby Dulik, president, Beverly Franks, vice president, Elizabeth Latsko, secretary: Rudy Maytas, treasurer. We participated in assemblies, homeroom programs and sports. Then, at last, came our first party. It was a Freshman-Sophomore party, which enabled us to become acquainted with fellow students. Our Sophomore year we elected as officers: Eleanor Gurick, president: Gert- rude Christobeck, vice president, Louise Yokovac, secretary, and Mary Spenik, treasurer. To climax our Sophomore year, we forgot our shyness, and wholeheart- edly attended the annual class party. There we met many of our classmates and guests and all enjoyed a memorable evening. Next year we would be upper-class- men, which only two years ago had seemed a distant dream. It was on September 4, 1945 that we once again returned to our school. This was to be our big year, a year in which we could take a lead in studies, sports and activities. Our ambitions were realized as more students reached the honor roll and contributed their talents to the newspaper, the Laureola and clubs. It was during this year, that our boys took prominent place in sports, many of them becoming members of varsity teams. Joe Horwat, Eleanor Gurrick, James Parker, and Mary Spinek, served as our officers. In place of a Junior Play, we presented two one-act plays which gave more students a chance to participate. Then, to highlight our exciting year, we had a semi-formal prom in our high school gym- nasium. Our goal was reached-Seniors at lastl We elected the following officers: Andy Deli, president, Bill To'kish, vice president, Frances Nevlud, secretary, Myrna Bat- taglini, treasurer. Once organized, our class at once fell in line with a Very busy schedule. The first major event was our Christmas party, followed by a play, Bot- toms Upv. To climax happy fleeting years came the Senior Prom. On May twenty- second we were graduated from dear German Township High School. 30
