Professors HORST and UHRICH at the University of Gering have been telling their class about the Freedom of '49. AUDREY HOWELL is tending bar at the Red-White Saloon. On the entertainment billing is VIOLET SPECHT and PHIL WENZ. It is owned and operated by MARY LOU GEIS. BETTY LOU JOHNSTON and DOROTHY LEIS have just escaped from the State Re- formatory. It is believed that they may be headed for Melbeta. A new army camp has been erected in the honor of GERALDINE MCCHESNEY for her loyalty during 1951. ' JANE MORRISON, owner of Lockheed. Inc., has just broken the world non-stop record. PHYLLIS ROLAND PELTZ has earned world fame for breaking the Dionne record. DOROTHE KAUFMAN, who recently earned fame for her discovery of Radium. is travel- ing throughout the world with her wealthy companion, SHIRLEY KAUFMAN. who just purchased Banner County. DONNA THOMAS, well known author, lecturer, and journalist. has just completed her latest book entitled. The Tragedy in the Furnace Room.', LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT JERRY BARTON leaves his pole vaulting ability to MARION RILEY. GEORGE BOTT and DON MCCOSH each leave fifty pounds to DANNY BEEMAN. LARRY BOYD wills his yodeling ability to JIM KOCH. MELVIN CARMODY wills his bashfullness to little brother MARVIN, and hopes that it keeps Marvin out of trouble. DONN CONN leaves his chair in the furnace room to JOE JODER. REX COPPOM refuses to leave anything. If he can't take it with him. he's not going. CLASS PROPHECY cLAss or 1951 The year 1971 will undoubtedly find the Gering high school senior class of 1951 scat- tered all over the world. We prophesy thus: JERRY BARTON, one time all-star sportsman, is now doing janitor work at Ebbet's Field. GEORGE BOTT has just one a state prize for raising a 14 lb. potato. The former ARLENE FERTIG also won a prize for producing a MV! lb. bouncing baby boy. LARRY BOYD has just made his first appearance on the screen. He is billed as Larry, Boy Yodelorf' MELVIN CARMODY's life-long dream has just been visualized. He is now playing on the Gering city basketball team. DONN CONN and his wife, the former MARILYN SCHLOTHAUER, have just opened a Home for Unfortunate Mouth Harp Players in Alaska. REX COPPOM has announced that he plans to buy the Denver Mint. That makes the fourth for Rex now, who is quite a success. ALDON ECKLAND has been named a five star general in the National Guard and was awarded a medal by the President of the United States for bravery on bivuoac. RICHARD DOWELL has made his fortune digging oil wells. DEWAIN EDGAR and GARY SINNER are now the proud owners of an entertainment establishment located 12 miles south and 1 mile east of Gering. RICHARD HALL informs us that his wife, the former CAROLYN GETTMAN, is still teaching school in Banner County and supports her husband and 13 children. CHARLES HOWARD, stock broker magot, has announced his intentions to marry JOYCE WELLS. well known singer who made her last appearance at Joe's Hamburger Shack. DARR JOHN, Banner County rancher, has just erected a shrine to the '41 Mercury that carried them to the State Tournament in Lincoln in 1951. ARNE LANDSBERG has just informed the world of his discovery of Gravity Neutralizer. He is looking for a new assistant, however, his last one, BOB WILKIE, was last seen passing the planet Mars. DON MCCOSH has enlarged his foxhole in Korea. Poor Don never got over the disap- pointment of never getting overseas. GUNNER McKINLEY and HAROLD WILKINS are now the owners and operators of a large peach orchard in Colorado. ELWIN OLSON, gentleman farmer. has expanded his industry. His wife, the former MARY LOU GEIS, now takes in laundry. MICKEY REAVIS, plumbing magnate. has invented a new non-skid bathtub. J. R. ROGERS, elected for his third term as President of the United States has just an- nounced his intention of dismissing ALDON ECKLAND from his command. EARL SHAUL has just been named Valentino II in a recent nation-wide poll. WALTER SHOTWELL. currently starring in the Ice Capadesf' has disappeared. It is rumored that he might attempt something drastic. since his break-off with CORAL STRINGER. former Copacaban girl. GLENDON THOMLISON has departed for the depths of darkest Africa to enter the Mission field. JACK WOODWARD and PAT MYERS have just opened their acrobatic team in Madison Square Garden. ' JEAN BOYD currently starring with FRANKLIN MCKINLEY in their latest pic, Sur- renderf' has just announced that she will go to Reno next week to divorce her 17th husband. DONNA RAE BROWN has been promoted in the F.B.I. Her new rank is Super Slueth. MILDRED CHILDS has made her 30th concert appearance in Carnegie Hall. DARLENE CLER and KAY MILLER are now billed together as the two biggest threats to the Women's Wrestling Profession. NORMA COONES will go on trial next week for stealing atomic secrets. RITA CRAMPTON has just been titled. The Voice. BEVERLY DAILY has just enlarged her trailer house. She and her husband, Jack, now have the only 36-wheeled trailer on the road. PAT MYERS wills her sophisticated manner to DONNA GROSS. PHIL WENZ leaves her sex appeal to ETTA MAE KLEIN. BETTY LOU JOHNSTON and DOROTHY LEIS leave for Melbeta. SHIRLEY UHRICH leaves her ability to go steady for over a year to NANCY COOPER ARLENE FERTIG wills her giggle to the Freshman girls. CLASS HISTORY 4 The portals of G.H.S. opened to 84 green freshmen in the year -1947. when the class of 1951 began their four memorable years of high school. In that year we elected Ronald Brown as President: Marilyn Schlothauer as Vice President, J. R. Rogers as Secretary, and Helen Hashiba as Treasurer. To the student council. we elected Don McCosh. Jerry Barton. Elwin Olson, Phyllis Roland. For our class sponsors that year we chose Mrs. Evelyn Snyder and Mr. ,lim Boyce. Our class party, a masquerade affair. was highly successful. In the fall of 1948. we returned to that grand institution called learning and. voted for our President. J. R. Rogers. Our other officers were Bob Wilkie. Vice Presidentg Arthur Carretson, Secretary, Arne Landsberg, Treasurer. Mickey Reavis, Phyllis Roland, Jackie Ross. and Donna Thomas were chosen to represent us 'ln student council. Our class sponsors that year were Mr. .lim Bowers and Miss Anna Meyer. As we began our junior year in the fall of 194-9, we entered upon a whirl of activities. Our .lunior Class Play, Comin' 'Round the Mountain. was a great hit. With the funds received from the play we began our plans for the .Iunior-Senior Prom. Our theme was Dreamers Holidayu and it was one to be proud of. Our leaders for that year were J. R. Rogers, President, Beverly Daily, Vice Presidentg Arne Landsberg. Secretaryg and Jane Morrison. Treasurer. Our student council representatives were Phyllis Roland. Bob Wilkie, Elwin Olson, and Jerry Barton. Our sponsors were Miss Shirley Brisco and Mr. Bill Taylor. We embarked upon our final year with the dignity and sophistication of seniors. As we began our year, we again elected .I. R. Rogers as our class President. Elwin Olson was elected Vice Presidentg Arne Landsberg. Treasurerg and Donn Conn was elected Treasurer. The seniors were well represented in student council, with Mickey Reavis as President, Bob Wilkie. Vice President, Donna Thomas as Secretary. On the Activity Board were Jerry Barton. Chairman., and Donna Thomas and J. R. Rogers. Other members of the council were Pat Myers, Phyllis Roland, Don McCosh, Rich Hall, Rex Coppom and Elwin Olson. Mrs. ,lean Reeder and Mr. Bill Taylor were our class sponsors and their guidance and help through our last year will always be remembered. Our Senior Class Play. One Mad Night, was a comedy which we enjoyed putting on. On our Senior Sneak Day, we sneaked away to Denver for a thoroughly good time. Then there was the Senior Dinner at Bigger's Dinner Bell. That was memorable night with good food, dancing. and a lot of laughs. The breakfast and prom put on for us by the junior class high-lighted our final year in school. To our teachers. sponsors. and those members of the faculty who were always willing to sacrifice their time and effort to help us. we offer our sincere appreciation for making our class history such a pleasant one.
