gfzstory of the School HE FIRST SCHOOL IN GERING was held ln 1887 ln a log bulld mg erected by George Volck The twelve puplls who were 1n the school at thxs tlme ware served by A Porter Prltchard the flrst teacher In 1891 there were two graduates from the tenth grade L L Raymond and Mary Sayre In that year E P Cromer was the ttacher In 1917 a new hlgh school was bullt by Contractor C N Pow: rs and Arch ltect J C Pedersen In 1920 the enrollment was 104 students taught by ten faculty members The Board of Educatlon at that time was as follows A N Mathers presl dent R C Campbell T L OHara A A Mlller F H Barkdoll B F Gen try secretary F E Neeley treasurer L F Hamllton was superlntendent Twenty one years later ln 1938 due to the crowded condltlons of the old bulldlng a new audltorlum and two wlngs were addcd to the old hlgh school The addltlon was constructed by the Fullen Construction Company wxth O J Hehnke as archltect At the present tlme the enrollment IS 501 pupils under thc dlrectlon of nlneteen teachcrs The Board of Educatlon durmg bulldlng operatlon was as follows Fred Walters presldent E P Pray VICE presldent E L Truax treasurer Chas A Gul secretary Mrs M H Andrews George Goldfaln Robcrt L Klmmons Chas G Klmgman Mrs Georgm Durnln R B Carey superm tendent .
