The 1989 All-District Band and Chorus was held in Geraldine on January 23. Musicians From Denton, Geyser, Grass Range, Harlowton, Hobson, Judith Gap, Lewistown, Moore, Stanford, Winifred and Uinnett spent the day rehearsing with choir conductor, Terry Annalora, and Dan Moore, band conductor. The tournament was held in Miles City Dec. 1-3. The overall record for the team was an impressive 26-2. The only losses came from Big Sandy during the regular season and from Rocky Boy at the divisional tournament. The team went undefeated at the state tournament. Individuals were honored with special awards for their efforts and performances. Jaymie Chery and Steph Spencer were placed on the first team All-Conference; Chery and Spencer were members of the All-Division tournament team; Chery, Spencer and Kristy Poindexter were placed on the All-State tournament team- Chery and Spencer, first team and Poindexter, second team; Chery and Spencer were chosen by the coaches as first team All-State players and Chery was voted Most Valuable Player for the 1988 Class C Girls' State Basketball Tournament. Jaymie was also chosen by the Tribune Sports Staff as being one of the ten best basketball players in the state. Coach Brenda Heramb-Clark was honored with the Coach of the Year. The Royalty: Freshmen Princess, Heather Buck; Sophomore Princess, Niki Curtis; Junior Princess, Tammy Motley; Queen, Wendy Motley; King, Jim Smart, was announced at halftime of the football game against Stanford. The parade began at 10:00 a.m on Saturday. The junior float, 'Look What the Cat Dragged In,' took first place; the freshmen float, 'Rolling Stones, took second place; and the eighth grade float, 'Survivor,' took third. The juniors sponsored the sloppy joe dinner after the parade. The Tiger football team was defeated by Stanford and the Lady Tigers defeated Ft. Benton. The dance was held in the old auditorium with the music provided by 94.5 D.J., Troy Melinger.
