IF EVUCATION WAS STAN SMITH'S OCCUPATION THEN CHILVREN WAS HIS AVOCATION. YES, STAN SPENT HIS LIFE WORKING FOR THE PEOPLE OF GERALDINE BUT THE RELATIONSHIP WAS MORE TEMPERED 8 HIS GUIVING HAND ON THE CHILVREN THAN THAT OF AN EMPLOYEE. THROUGHOUT THE EARS MANY THINGS HAVE HAPPENED. MANY TIMES HAVE BEEN SPENT IN HAPPINESS; THERE HAVE BEEN CONFLICTS IN OPINIONS; STUVENTS HAVE GONE ON TO BECOME PARENTS OF STUDENTS; TEACHERS COME AND GO; I I hum jrmMi THE 1982 ANNUAL TO MR. SMITH. SCHOOL BOARDS CHANGE FACES AND PHILOSOPHY. HOWEVER, TWO THINGS HAVE NOT CHANGED OVER THESE PAST SEVENTEEN YEARS. STAN SMITH HAS BEEN SUPERINTENDENT OF EDUCATION AND HE WAS WORKING FOR THE BEST EDUCATION FOR HIS GERALDINE CHILDREN. SO, WITH HIS RE- TIREMENT, WE REJOICE FOR HIS HAPPINESS AND WE ARE SAD. YES SAD - FOR HIS GUIDING HAND WILL NO LONGER TOUCH THE LIVES OF THE GERALDINE CHILDREN AS HE DOES NOW. SO THEN, FOR YOU STAFF - PAST AND PRESENT, FOR PARENTS AND FOR ALL GERALDINE CHILDREN, YOUNG AND OLD, I SAY - CONGRATULATIONS MR. SMITH AND THANKS. ADMINISTRATION SUPERINTENDENT STAil SMITH Seniors, you have reached a very im- portant milestone in your collective lives—GRADUATION. I hope this is but a beginning in a life long quest for knowledge. This quest can occur in the classroom or in an occupation, but it should happen because as a wise philosopher once said, The man that is too old to learn was probably al- ways too old to learn. Farewells to seniors are usually boring and farewells to underclassmen are ignored. However, with this being my last shot, I am inspired to raise the mighty pen and dull the sword. There are so many things a person has to learn. Most endeavors require a cer- tain amount of ability, but needed also are loyalty, sincerity, enthusiasm, and coop- eration. If these attributes are developed, you will experience success. You will see yourselves at state athletic contests as participants. You will be in control of self and no man shall lead your life. This year I worked with a new advisor and a new way to produce the annual. It has been quite an experience. I have enjoyed work- ing with Ms. Heramb and the staff. There were times when the work was done by only a few people, and I sure appreciated the times those few showed up to work. I hope you have enjoyed reading through the pages of this yearbook. The staff put in long hours to meet the deadlines. The group of people I worked with was an excellent staff. They were hard workers. It took hours of work to produce the annual. The staff and photographers need the support of the community to keep prod .cing an annual each year. I would like to thank the Geraldine and the Fort Benton communities for their generous sponsorships. EDITOR ASSISTANT EDITOR STAFF MEMBERS PHOTOGRAPHERS ADVISOR Emily J. J. ,i. « . .1. j. J. .u J.
