MESSAGE It is Not Too Late To Seek A Better World. I Sometimes civilization is wrongly adjudged in terms of locomotion, machinery, and bathrooms. The non- physical part of life is the more enduring. Civilization will endure only in terms of knowledge, emotions and ideas; physical monuments such as the pyramids will erode in the winds and rain. Time is fleeting and’’now” is with man only once. Remember from the Rubaiyat: ROY NEIL MILLER M. A. , MSU, 1956 The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ, moves on; nor all your Piety nor Wit Shall lure it back to can- cel half a Line, Nor all your Tears wash out a Word of it. Man must be aware of himself in terms of the vast ages which preceded him - and in terms of how the future will judge him. From birth to death he lives in a succession of joy and sorrow, grasping or petty, or he will overcome cruelty, oppression, and superstition. He will be sensitive to the values that make life beau- tiful and good. In no way could he build a more enduring memory than as a teacher. Every creative impulse which he might foster in the young will endear him to posterity. The community will be home to the teacher who will induce young people to think independently, to act democratically, and to live graciously. Roy N. Miller

DWIGHT D. DWELLO, Principal B. S. , Ellendale, North Dakota To the Senior Class of 1960 I say con- gratulations. You have done a fine job not only in acquiring another steppingstone in your quest for knowledge and the better things in life, but also in assembling this fine book of memories. It is my sincere wish that as you go out from these hallowed doors that you take with you the knowledge and understanding that you have acquired here and that you use these tools to grow into better citizens and leaders so that you may help in doing your part in making this a more peaceful world in which to live.
