1949 SCHOOL CALENDAR 1950 SEPTEMBER 6 School opened (Groan) 22 County Institution (Institution for the ???) 23 First game of Football, We won, Wha Hoppened? 28 Football game at Hobson. We lost, shucks fellers, can’t win all of ’em. OCTOBER 1 Homecoming Day Celebrated. Fort Benton plays here and they won. 4 Stanford there. What a game, what tempers, we lost. 22 Fort Benton there. Last game of Football season. Usual results, we lost, NOVEMBER 2 Freshies came to school all dressed up, the Sophs had begun their torture. 17 Trip to the Smelter. B. B. boys started training today?? 18 First game of B. B. season. Geyser there, our luck was still bad, we lost. 23 St. Leo’s here, “B” team won, (ours) and our “A” team lost. 24 Senior Dance. Profit, are you kidding, there wasn’t one. DECEMBER 2 Juniors display their talent in the Junior play, “The More the Merrier.” 3 We played B. B. at Hobson. Some of the boys were benched or were they? Any- how we lost. 7 B. B. game at Stanford. We lost again. 14 Freshies gave return party. More dam fun. 28,29,30 Tournament at Highwood. Four teams participated, we took fourth place. Good, huh???? JANUARY 6 Neihart at Geraldine, we lost. A big chili dinner was held at the Dorm for both teams. 7 Geyser at Geyser, Hey we lost. 9 Senior Portraits taken, what a collection of pans. 13 We played Belt there, close game but we lost. 20 Highwood played here, both our grade and high school team lost. 21 Moccasin there, We WON Yipeeeeeeeeee. JANUARY 25 Stanford here, again we lost. 27 Centerville there, both our teams lost, good games? WOW?? were they. Jokers. 28 Denton there, our team about froze on the way home. FEBRUARY 4 Denton here, we lost, Mr. Hastings cooked hamburgers. 10 Neihart there, Shay we lost, can’t shee why. 10 Geyser grades there, our fans got knocked out, those darn cellars without doors. 11 Financial flop, “G” club dance. 17 We won a game, Belt was the victim. 20 Rhua Slavens gave an interesting talk on Belgians. 24 Highwood there, we WON, Highwood gave a skit at the half. 25 Moccasin here, we won by a big score. 28 PTA organized. MARCH 1,2,3,4 Tournament at Cascade, we took fifth place, nice going boys. 29, 30 Sociology class took trip to Deer Lodge, have fun kids??? 31 What a play, what talent, the senior play, “Dude Ranch.’’ APRIL 1 All fools day, we really enjoyed ourselves. 4 Leo Smith gave a talk to the Seniors. 5 Seniors took a powder and disappeared. (Senior Sneak Day). PTA held its election. 14 Girls and boys played softball and baseball at Highwood. We lost both games. 18 Highwood played here, both boys and girls, guess what? we lost. 21 Stanford played the boys in the first league game of baseball. 27, 30 High School Week at Bozeman. MAY 4 Band Concert at the auditorium. 10 Junior-Senior Banquet, what a feed! 13 Band concert at Havre. 21 Baccalaureate was held at the Community Church. 22 Class night at the hall. 23 Graduation. 26 School closed today. YIPPPPpppeeeeeee.

We elected the following officers: President ...................Chic Luhr Reporters................P. Bryant, B. Peters Vice President ........Wiley Juedeman Representative .............Joyce Henderson Secretary and Treasurer ....Lou Bronson Sponsor .....................Mrs. Minimum Our first highlight was the Junior Play “The More the Merrier”, presented December 3. Secondly came our Prom April 21, 1950. Music was by the Royal Bards. The scene was decorated in the Seniors’ colors, blue and white. Last but not least came the Junior-Senior Banquet on May 10. The Junior mothers put on this big feed and it was very good. This ended our Junior year in G. H. S. and with happy hearts we are looking forward to our last and best year in high school.
