SENIOR WISDOM Seniors are honored in their final yoar With pretty speeches they are to hear: They listen in sllence, but when it's through. They say it's old fashioned and want something new. But when you are out for a year or so, That is the time you begin to know, That you should have listened to what was said. Rather than following the dreams in your head. A Senior. E SENIQR HISTORY Freshman Year 44-45 On September ll. 1944 eighteen new freshies started school at Geraldine High. The class consisted of Margie Brewer, Vera Blyth, Jean Thomas, Jeanie Thomas, Irene Owen, Rita Slowey, Rita Painter, Norma Hicks. Evelyn Vick. Edith Manley. Betty Duvall. Bill Tanner, Bill Bronson. Fred McDonald, Jim Clark, John Pearson, Tom Ritland, and Charles Kee. We were initiated by the Sophomores on September 20. The boys dressed as girls and the girls wore burlap sacks. We all had to wear a vegetable necklace and go bare- footed. We were liberally painted with lipstick and shoe polish, forced to walk back- wards and parade the town. We whitewashed the G on October 11. The barrel of water rolled down the hill and we put most of the lime on dry: consequently the first rain removed all traces of our handiwork. With Mr. Dettmers as sponsor, we held our first class meeting and elected the following officers: Fred McDonald, president: Bill Bronson, vice-president: Edith Manley. secretary-treasurer. Evelyn dropped out of school the first semester but two new members were added to the class later in the year when Herb Bailey and Harold Juedeman transferred here from other schools. The uncertainties of our freshman year were happily concluded when school closed on May 18.
