SENIOR HISTORY Sophomore Year 45-46 We eagerly returned on September 10, 1945 to assume our roles as sophisticated sophomores. Charles Kee and Jim Clark did not return, but the count remained the same when Jean Rust and Bradley Clark came here from other schools. Toward the end of the year. however. Tom went to North Dakota and John dropped out of school. We initiated the Freshmen on October 3. What a job! Rita Slowey was voted princess from our class and attended the queen at the Junior Prom on May 7. Jean. Jeanie. and Harold took part in the all-school play. A Ready Made Family which was given on May 17. Officers for our sophomore year were: Jean Thomas, president: Herb Bailey, vice-president: and Rita Slowey, secretary-treasurer. Mr, Hensleigh was our sponsor. Junior Year 46--LT Our Junior year started September 9. 1946. We all returned except Harold who was living in Oklahoma. Rita Painter who was spending the winter in Michigan, and Jean Rust and Betty who moved to Great Falls. Bradley. John, and George dropped out the first six weeks and Herb and Fred transferred to Great Falls in October. Clara Ludeman and Tom Bartlett were added to the class during the year and Harold returned from Oklahoma in April. Mrs. Mitzner was our sponsor for this year. Class officers werez.. Margie Brewer. president: Vera Blyth. vice-president: Edith Manley. secretary-treasurer: and Rita Slowey. reporter. Our big projects for the year were the traditional Junior Class play and the Junior Prom. The play. which was given on December 6. was a farce-comedy entitled The Daffy Dills . Everyone participated and it was quite a success providing us with the financial resources to put on our Prom, We chose Showboat Serenade as the theme for our Prom on April 19. Phyllis Tanner was queen and Royce Scribner was king. Class princesses were: Maxine Scribner. Irene Owen. Marina Paradis and Sally Bronson. Class rings were ordered from Josten and arrived about Christmas. Senior Yea 1' 47-48 The big year of our lives arrived at last on September 8. 1947. There were now twelve seniors as Herb and Rita May returned. However Herb left at the end of the first semester. Mrs. Mitzner was again class sponsor. Harold was chosen as president: Rita Slowey. vice-president: Jean Thomas. secretary-treasurer: and Edith Manley, reporter for our final year. The year was crowded with activities. On October ll. we gave the annual Senior Dance which was a great success. The class sponsored a bingo booth at the Carnival on November 22. Bill and Jean were king and queen of the Carnival. Out of our class funds we bought a flash camera, which has been used to take pictures of the school activities and will be left to the school. All the seniors took part in the senior play, Demon in the Dark which was given April 2. We took. May 7, 8. and 9 as our Senior Sneak Day and made a short tour of the state. The Junior-Senior Banquet was held the early part of May. Even our fear of being called upon to make a speech did not dull our appetites for the savory food. The final thrill-packed week of our high school careers began with Baccalaureate on May 23, Class Night was May 25, and that day of days, Graduation. arrived at last on May 26. Happy as we were to receive those coveted diplomas, our pleasure was dimmed somewhat by the thought that we no longer will be among those for whom the old GHS bell tolls.
