T0 HELL WITH Eurasia Transitions play an important role in any students life. We adapt to our environment, and in doing so, we grow. We come to Georgia Tech to get an education and eventually a job. While here, we undergo changes - socially, academically, and philosophically. ln recent years, we have experienced a social and philosophical transition often referred to as The New Conservatism, lt is characterized by a re-discovered respect for things past, with a definite focus on the future. The counter-culture movement of the late sixties and early seventies is but a vague memory to most of us. In contrast with the now passe liberal society, we are experiencing a generation where everyone is more self- motivated. Because of a rapidly expanding need for engineers and the incredible salaries which they com- mand, Georgia Tech is enjoying a Renaissance. The mood of the nation and campus are in a trans- itional period, moving from an era of philosophical moti- vations to one of straight-line practicality. People in general, but Tech students more specifically. are highly driven by the success syndrome. lt is everywhere around us and in order to succeed, we adapt.
