GEORGIA TECH TODAY AND TOMORROW I he Georgia liistituti ' of Iccliiiology is today the largest and most outstanding engineering, seicntilic, and arcliitectural edueational and research institution in the South. Since its establishment seventy years ago Georgia Tech. through its graduates, has been instrumental in building up the industrial |)otential of the region until today it is foremost in the countr in growth and opportunities. Some of the existing buildings, such as those utilized for textile, architecture, library, general stu- dies, electrical engineering, R.O.T.C, and infirmary purposes were found to be totally inadequate and out- lated for their required functions. A development plan of the campus was prepared, showing present and proposed future buildings and facilities to accommodate a student bod of 5.000. At that time, many of the proposed building- were located outside of the ' . ' i acres owned by Georgia Tech. We have extended our boundaries through purchases of adjacent land so that today we have one large campus of more than 13.5 acres, extending from below North Avenue to above Tenth Street and from the Express- way on the east to Hemphill Avenue and Atlantic Dri e on the west.
