THE CURIOUS SAVAGE FINDS ASYLUM Jean Cole portrayed Mrs. Ethel P. Savage, an afHuential eccen- ttic, in a delightful comedy artfully entitled Curious Savage. The curious Who saw the University Players, presentation gave it a hand warming commendation. Ian Macauley, writing in The University Signal, thought Curious Savage the most petfectly-cast play presented before . the Atlanta Division this season. Mrs. Savage is an afHuential eccentric Whose primary objec- tive in life is to satisfy the petty desires of those around her. Walter Guthrie, Jetty Button and Jean Fatagason play the hheavies, the greedy Children of the old woman, Who have her confined to an asylum. In the asylum Mrs. Savage has for companions quite a num- ber of real gone lid flippers. Mary Donaldson, William Falk- ner, Patricia Maynard, Gail Bell and Jon Colcord convinced 'the audience they were really deep in the snake pit. NO hissing! Alyce Carson and Jack Canavan played the medics in the institution. Mrs. Savage before her confmement converted her wealth into negotiable bonds, stuffed them into a teddybear, and played h'bonds, bonds, who has the bonds? with the avaticious offsprings for the rest of the performance with the asylumfs prize Iunatics providing the sometimes poignant moments, often the metriments. After much ado, all ends well. Elliot Brand, Bruce Walrath, Joe Johnson, Claude Brown and Hazel Thomas worked backstage to provide stage designs, setting, lighting and directing. .mx'ar
