HISTORY ATLANTA DIVISION UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA The his+ory of +he A+lan+a Divisionl Universi+y of Georgia. is as impressive as +he plans for ifs new campus. The A+lan+a Division began as an idea for promo+ing educalion for men and women who were in search 0T a college educarion bu+ could no+ aHend day classes. One hundred and sixfy sfudenfs were enrolled. and +he faculfy was made up of eleven professors. Courses offered were mainly business subjecls. wi+h languages and hisfory added la+er. All of +he school facilil'ies were in +he building ifself. hill Hi The aim of +he A+lan+a Division has been accomplished by offering +0 +housands of young people +he opporl'unily +o gain an educarion while making +heir living. S+uclen+s aH'ending +he A+lan+a Division now number from 4.000 +0 6.000I wi+h a faculfy composed of one hundred and fiH'y professors. The curriculum confains a large variefy of courses. wil'h several degrees and diplomas now being offered. The presenl' locafion of +he A+lan+a Division al' 24 Ivy S+ree+ is il's +hird home. wi+h school facili+ies now including +he school lodge and +he gymnasium. Sfudenl's have an opporl'unil'y +0 en+er in+o organizafions which 'promol'e cer+ain +ypes of aclivi'ries. bo+h social and promcessionalI ancl furl'her business educafion generally. Plans for +he new home of +he A+lan+a Division will bring +0 s+uclen+s a magnificen+ s+ruc+ure. enclosing a new library. addil'ional classrooms. execu+ive offices. and s+uden+ lounges. wi+h +he presen+ building being used for laborafories and addi+ional classroom space. The ingenuil'y. aggressive- ness. and genuine in+eres+ of +he facul'ry and sfudenfs in +he A+lan+a Division will con+inue +0 make i+ a school of which we can all be proud.
