Beginning of an Era On the same day Dr. Pope A. Duncan became Vice President of Georgia Southern College. Dr. Duncan is familiar with the functions of a college. He served as Dean of Brunswick College in 1964, and as President of South Georgia College in 1964 through 1968. This versatile man is an asset to our campus. Versatile in the respect of his leadership and beliefs, Dr. Duncan helps guide our college to continuous progress.

A New President — Dr. John Olin Eidson took over the presi- dency of Georgia Southern College on July 1, 1968. A native of Johnston, South Carolina, Dr. Eidson received his A.B. degree from Wofford College, his M.A. from Vanderbilt University, and the Ph.D. degree from Duke University. He has served for eleven years as Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the Univer- sity of Georgia. Also at the University he was Professor of English and Dean of the Coordinate College. He has served as Director of the Univer- sity Center in Georgia, and spent a year in Germany as Fulbright Professor of American Lit- erature at the University of Freiburg. In World War II, he served for four years in the U. S. In- fantry and is now Lt. Col. in the U. S. Army Re- serve.
