The RECALL remembers. ' 7 WDOG Spotlight: Dedication Each year the yearbook staff of Georgia MiHtary College dedicates the RECALL to a member of the faculty who we feel is deserving of special recognition. This teacher has devoted much time in class and after school hours. Although we do not always devote 100% of our time and effort to practices, we can always count on her to willingly sacrifice her time for us. Even though she must di- rect the classes, she often becomes a participant competing with her students as an equal. Anyone who has dressed out and has answered the call to line up knows the exhiliration of physical exercise as this teacher leads the group in a rousing game of basketball, a competitive volleyball match, or even fifty minutes of strenuous aerobic dancing. With her help we have perfected our ground strokes, lowered our golf handicaps, and raised our free throw percentages. For all these reasons, among many others, we, the 1983 RECALL Staff, dedicate this RECALL to you, MRS. PEGGY COUEY. o ri :P iji ddiJlS HOMECOMING COURT 1982-83 HOMECOMING PARADE HOMECOMING DANCE PARENTS ' NIGHTS FOOTBALL BASKETBALL 4 ' PViHVHHl ' ■•ji— 7 ' li 1 POWDER PUFF FOOTBALL PEP RALLIES p lfV i ' - l r i ' K s: jr L 1 J 1 f w w. — — , L£ i 1 mM iHH HOMECOMING 1982 « ' Ii. „ TALENT SHOW «« . - s _ 1 ffiAM3i i y l liiiry j4jiirt MILITARY DEPARTMENT Senior Division Cpt. Black has retired from Georgia Military College after thirty-four years of dedicated service. Colonel Black ' s noteworthy career at CMC began in September of 1948, shortly after his graduation from Mercer University in Macon with a Master ' s Degree in Education. He also obtained an A.B. degree in mathematics from Mercer University in 1947 and is a 1942 alumnus of CMC High School. He served a three-year tour of duty with the United States Navy during World War II. Although he began teaching in the classroom. Col. Black ' s career has been as varied as his interests. His dedicated service also includes positions as dean registrar, presi- dent, headmaster, and alumni director. Feeling the need to return to teaching, he went back to the classroom in 1971. He is at this time retiring with a full professorship in mathematics. Col. Black recalls his earlier days at CMC with humor. Serving as dean registrar, he naturally counseled the cadets on course requirements. Often times cadets came to such sessions with one thought on their minds — how to get out of freshman English. It took only a short while for the cadet to agree to Col. Black ' s suggestion that he take the course. Whether he be president, headmaster, alumni director or teacher, David Black has always held the interest of the individual with high regard. This reasoning brought him much respect. Col. Black was honored at the annual President ' s Parade in October, 1982. Major General Salet presented him with the Distinguished Service Award and the traditional military sabre. Colonel Black will be missed at GMC. His plans include gentleman farming and more involvement in the family-owned business The Country Storehouse, where the Blacks ' handmade crafts and goods are marketed GMC PATRONS Dr. George Ritchie The Briar Patch Edwina K-Mart Dr. Crooms Dr. Valdecanas Drs.
