The subiects were now different, but the amount and complexity of the material were no less. After hours of looking for acid-fast bacilli no one would see we were to expose ourselves to this bug, When many of us were asked to report to the Pharmacology office, invariably to discuss the results of the previous test, we did not seem to mind. We were also introduced to self-experimenta- tion and would often use our classmates as guinea pigs on techniques we were soon to try out on real patients. It took a genuine politician to get a complete history and physical from patients who informed us that three other doctors had already seen them. QS W it 'lt EX HK 1 i n 'f'5f?5?5igs'231 :uf l

Early morning rounds, history, physical, and differential diagnosis, a good doctor-patient relationship, and SCUT were some ofour primary con- cerns. Slowly we were becoming more and more involved in this new bag -Medicine. Our tests became less and public speaking abilities were an important asset for our presentations. We were introduced to the subtle politics of dealing with nurses, at- tending physicians, and the administration . . . and we did get more elective time. K v X I wr ff f.
