With this naive idea we started going through the very diverse exper- iences of our year as freshmen. The systematic dissec- tion and the memorizing of anatomical terms introduced us to o language that we were to use for the rest of our lives. The complexities of physiological and biochemical mechanisms often seemed completely irrelevant, but somehow this was the way our organ systems functioned. The inevitable self-analysis after many psychiatric con- ferences was disturbing to many, but things always looked brighter after a few beers at the Peacock.
