f- . 6 I REV. WILLIAM A. RYAN, SJ. As Rector and Headmaster of Georgetown Prepara- tory School, Fr. Ryan has a keen interest in the welfare of the individual student as well as in the prosperity of the school as a whole. We know that the majority of his work-day is devoted to projects for the continual betterment of the school, but we are honored when he steals time enough from his work to lend his presence at school activities and athletic contests. Fr. Ryan works out a response to an IIEAIIMA TER My dear graduates: ln the name of all the Faculty, l congratulate you willl deep sincerity on attaining the goal of your gradu- ation. It was not lightly wong helrind your diplomas stand many hours of patient toil, perseverance, and downright struggle. Remember, though, that this graduation is only one milestone on your path through life. There are many other goals to he won. and very few of them easily To each of us, in Cod's good providence, there comes a full share of difliculties and hardships, of temptations to discouragement, and all the otller con- sequences of living in this vale of tears. How well you meet these tests is in your hands. You have every right to face the future with confidence, for you have learned here at Georgetown Prep how to light these hattles. how to 'flake it with a smile and come up fighting. The work represented by your diplomas has hecn a training in true Christian living as well as a training of your faculties. You may look hack on it with juslihahle satisfactiong the remembrance of the dilhculties you have overcome here should en- courage you to keep up the good Hght you have already started. Never lower your sights! Remember, you are not alone. You have the prayers and example of your good parents. You have the supernatural helps of grace gained through the Sacraments, through prayer and sacrifice. You have the constant, tender and ever- vigilant care of Mary, our Mother. Under her guidance may you continue on the path you have enteredg under her motherly care may you enjoy a never-ending com- panionship with her diiine Son, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
