This year the team had to fight . . . fight hard to the very last. With victory as its goal, it pushed ahead using teamwork and strength. The team was an aggressive team. It did not always come out on top for the hopes ol the Tech Tourney were squelched by midseason. Yet the enthusi- asm of the team and the fans lingered on to the last game. Merrily they enliven Christmas assemhiies, brighten the Evening with the Arts, and add resonance to many other assemhiies and per- formances. Under the direction of Mrs. Helen Hayden, the chorus has evolved into an exuberant group of virtuosos capable of capturing the audience’s interest and maintaining it. GIRLS’ CHOIR A rhythmical succession of gentle melodies resounding in an agreeable musical air is greeted most favorably when sung by the Girls Choir. At diverse school and community functions Mrs. Helen Hayden directed these musically inclined girls, bringing them forth melodiously. Whether performing at the Annual Spring Concert, the Christmas Concert, various school assemblies, or for local organiza- tions and events, the Girls Choir came through practically as prof(‘s- sionals giving a note of taste and culture to our school. They were commended by all for their zealous work in behalf of the school. FIRST ROW: K. Wood, S. Detato, P. Johnson. SECOND ROW: F. Dodge, K. Duggan. L. Pas- quale, J. Pasquale, B. Marston. Passionate zeal and drive characterizes this large and amhitions organization. Miss Dontia Privitera. a coach well skilled in directing and supervising a play, was also adept in recruiting mtiltitudes for the cltih and in grasping team rather than individual goals. Further- more the Drama Cluh contrihuled its tremendous tal- ents to main charitable organizations in the vicinity. Main nursing homes found themselves serenaded hy this congenial grou[) at festive occasions. Of the many clubs in our school, the Drama Cluh was the only one participating in the Senior Class Talent Show where they presented a skit well received h the audience, while in April, this hard-working group ol young actors performed a hilarious bellv-aching, three- act comedy entitled Rest Assured worthy ol an academy award. They deserved and greatly reeeiv ‘d high praise and approval from all in the eommunity as well as in the school. A first in GHS history occurred when the Concert and Stage Bands participated in a weekend exchange concert in Colchester, Connecticut. Under the direction of Mr. Ceorge Norris, the hand performed as a pep hand at football games and rallies as well as a marching hand in the surrounding communities. The Christmas and Spring Concerts high- lighted the year with a combined concert with Hamilton Wenham Regional and Ipswich High Schools. The Con- cert and Stage Bands finally closed yvith a concert on the town green. Perhaps the Band ' s greatest moment of glory was on graduation night yvhen, afti ' r |)erforming. Dr. Frank D. Ashhurn, [irincipal speaker, recognized the hand as lieing the finest in the area. The hand adds color and life to many school and community functions and is the jiride of CHS. STAGE BAND 70 NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY JR. NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY The Ellsworth H. Welch Chapter of the National junior Honor Society was formed in 1962. Inductions are held each spring for students in grades seven through nine. Sophomores who wen ' in the Societ the previous vear remain in the Society, however no new Soph- omores are chosen as members. Students are selected on the basis of scholarship, ser ice, leadership, citizenship, and character. The National Honor Society was founded nine years ago and was named the Helen L. Davis chapter in honor of a longtinK- de- voted teacher, and is generously supported hv the Kiwanis Club of Georgetown. Members are chosen from the Junior and Senior classes on the basis of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. This year, as in the past two years, the members were treated to a Red Sox baseball game following the Spring induction. Borrow RO ' ' : K. wood, L. Pas.,uale, A. Nunan - president, M. Nee A. tary. STUDENT COUNCIL This yt ' ai’ h was (lithciill tor the Student Council to get perfect attendance at meetings due to the suspension of Activities Period. Therefore th( ' y met during lutich at least once or twice a week. The Stitdtmt Council hmt a heliting hand to a deserving Senior by offering its lirst st ' holarship awarded on the Itasis of contribu- tion to the school. The first recipi- ent was Charlie Flynn. To finance this jrroject, candles were sold at Christmas and a dance was held in March. In addition to these activities, the Student Council hosted three radio programs for X NBP in Nevv- buryport. They sponsored several surveys and held an exchange day with the Rockport High Student Council. They discussed privileges, policies, and compared procedures in both schools. All told, the efforts and endeavors of the Council proved fruitful and rewarding. SKI 72 ECOLOGY CLUB Students eonce ' rned with our ecological situation formed a new club under tli(‘ direction of Mrs. Cliristofferson. They attended town ecology meetings and accomplislied a few projects such as puhlicizing an ecology speech at G.H.S. hv Congressman Hatch, helping out at recycling day, and planting vegeta- tion on the hillside hehind the school to prevent soil erosion. This first year was mildly suc- cessful. With the departur ' of the advisor the future of the cluh is now in doubt. CLUB .Although no organized Ski Club existed this ear, Mr. Stuart Fall planned and chaperoned a ski trip to Killington, Vermont during the February vacation. Tlu ' lri[) was a great success due to a large turn- out, an abundance of snow, and agreeahh ' weather. Our slalom ex- perts, intermediates, and novice skiers regretted that mor( of such trips were not available. LEFT TO RIGHT: A. Kramer, L. Rentscliler, K. Temple, S. Gynan, L. Chirk. L. Chirk. J. She was one of eighteen out of one hundred and fifty ai)plicants to be accepted for the program. While in Georgetown, Elisahet was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Sullo of Bald pate Road. Elisahet made many lasting friendships this year and addressed many local organizations about Sweden. At G.H.S. she was a mem- ber of the Drama Club and served on numerous school committees. On Class Day she was voted pret- tiest, tallest, and best eyes girl by her fellow Seniors. During Spring vacation, Elisahet travelled to Washington with SIS (Student In- ternational Service) for a tour of the capitol. Her other interests in- clude skiing, skating, swimming, and sailing.
