Starting with little knowledge of competitive volleyball. 24 ladies began to learn how to play exciting volleyball. Throughout the season the Buffalo Bumpers showed steady improvement. Gradually both teams developed a distinct style of team play. Captained by Cher re Lanter, the Junior Varsity compiled six match victories and 11 losses. The ladies awarded Cherre Lanter the most valuable player. Mary Buyno received the most improved player award. The Varsity experienced the agony of losing a lot of matches after winning the first or second game of the match. Finally the many practice hours were rewarded with defeats of Schlarman, Westville, Armstrong, and Bismarck. The tournament team of Conrad, Dalide, K. Lanter, Pionek, Lambert, Pasley, C. Lanter, M. Buyno, and Kauffman finished second in the District Tournament. Awards were presented to Captain Anita Conrad-Most Points Scored; Kim Dalide-Most Valuable Player; May Pionek-Coach’s Award; Lori Pasley and Betsy Lambert-Most Improved Players. Coach McCullough 14
