Happiness Is Being in School 1975 BUFFALO GEORGETOWN HIGH SCHOOL GEORGETOWN, ILLINOIS 3 5 6 7 Dedication We have decided to dedicate this Yearbook to a man who has been helpful to this school and the students who go to it. Through words and actions he has taught us the true and real meaning of the word dedication. He has been a friend, teacher and coach to almost every student at G.H.S. He also is quite well known for his quick wit, big laugh, and his over-all sense of humor. But the thing he has done best in the years we have known him is to bring out the best in every person. He has an uncanny ability to make people give 100% and go above their capabilities. For all he has done for us we want to dedicate this book to Mr. John Sammons. Sherry Brian John Sammons 8 Supt. Mr. Derry Behm The students and staff of Georgetown High School are to be commended for this year of outstanding achievement. The caliber of performance in all areas, in school and extra-curricular, has been a credit to the student body, the staff and to the community. I know that those leaving in this year will carry those same high standards throughout their lifetime endeavors. School Board Joe Dalida, president; Don Ehlenfeld, Elmo Snook. Bill Snack, Jim Black, Deane Galyen, Peg Gleichman. Library Media Supervisor Ruth Steele. Secretary Norma Emmert and Accountant Sherry Serd. 10 Principal Mr. Robert Delmotte As the years go by and you look back on this year, you can be proud of the accomplishments, both large and small, of the class of 1975. This year can be the forerunner of the greater things you want for yourselves in the future. These come through hard work and self-dedication. Be sure you set your goals high enough and remember, you have the ability to do anything you want to do, if only you want it badly enough. Best of luck to you all. Robert Delmotte Secretary KAREN M1KEL Pet peeve: Telephones that ring ALL the time. Accountant AUDREY GREENE Pet peeve: Excuses for buying late lunch tickets. 11 r MARTIN AVENATTI Industrial Education and Driver Education M.S. from Eastern Illinois University SANDRA COLLINS Special Education — English and Social Studies B.S. from Eastern Illinois University “Those students with overdue library hooks” SUSAN BLACKFORD Math and Science B.S. from Illinois State University “Players who call for the ball AFTER they catch it” ROBERT BANJAMIN American History M.S. from Indiana State University Sponsor for: Senior Class “I can’t” CHRISTINE BREDHOLT English and Speech A.B. from Olivet Nazarene College Sponsor for: Cheerleaders, Pep Club, National Honor Society, Twirlers, Drama. “People who say ‘How’s that go again’ and the Sports writers for the DANVILLE COMMERCIAL NEWS! Many of the players, fans, and coaches were apprehensive of the new schedule which awaited us. Due to a fine effort on the part of players, fans, cheerleaders, students, band, faculty, and administration a very enjoyable Homecoming Parade, bonfire, and pep-session resulted in an excellent 20-6 victory over Gibson City and launched the Buffaloes toward a find 7-2 record and a third place finish in the tough Wauseca Conference. John Sammons 65 The Homecoming this year was ven exciting with a great bonfire, fantastic victory over Gibson Citv (20-6) and a fine halftime show. The Band and Pom Pon Girls displayed their talents with several songs and routines. 67 68 Homecoming was a great success this year. It started off on Thursday night with the parade and bonfire and the traditional snake-dance. All the floats were good with the Juniors having the best one. Friday night was the big homecoming victory. The dance was on Saturday for the first time. The hand featured was “Catch’ which was super. They played many popular songs and were really enjoyed. 69 TOP: The “Catch in ction: BOVK: Handy Marriage escorting candidate Jaime Black, Queen (linger Taran escorted by Gary Kmmert. candidate Mary King and escort Tom Brim: BELOW : Attendants, Carla Rodgers. The Buffaloes played remarkably well in a tough Wauseca Conference battleground. I nder the able coaching of John Sammons, the guys highlighted the season by romping Westville for the Coal Bucket and a fine effort against a very tough Watseka team. l ine efforts were shown by the Juniors and Seniors alike. Making All-County this year were Brian klink. Wilbur Moody. Brian Rhoden. Steve Smith, and Doug Vi eaver. Several of these hoys were All-Wauseca Conference, also. Randy Reynolds, though not receiving All-Countv honors, was honorable mention Little All State at the center position. The Westville game turned out to be another highly emotional game with breaks having a lot to do with the outcome of the game. With the score tied 6-6 at halftime the Buffaloes regrouped their forces and took advantage of all the breaks in the second half and completely dominated the Westville offense and defense to notch a verv impressive 36-6 w in and regained possession of the “Coal Bucket”, John Sammons Principal Delmottc.
