1972 BUFFALO GEORGETOWN TWP. HIGH SCHOOL GEORGETOWN, ILLINOIS .A we look hack'we ha Visions of times past. As we look forward, we see a road. Visions of surnr es, happy and sad. Pictures of important dances. Homecoming, Sweetheart, and Prom, Plays, ballgames, pep sessions, and track. You couldn't wait for them to come. Yearbooks have pictures'of events and friends. Pictures of memories that never will end. Everytime you turn a page, you see a' face you know. Or see the game that was won. long, long ago. You hate to see these things go And now they are all past. But as you turn back the pages of time. You know that these memories will last. v. ■ wi -jEk __________________ Beth Grider — 2 16 72 : — DEDICATION We, the yearbook staff, hereby dedicate the 1972 yearbook to a man who has guided us in the making of this book. A man who has gained great respect throughout the years he has been here. A guy who is a good sport and a leader in himself. As a great math teacher, with all of his other abilities, he has taught us all about the opportunities in the world, pertaining to math. He has put a great deal into the fun of basketball games with his time, helping the yearbook staff sell refreshments to the spectators and also in other money making projects. He has been an active person in GEA for the last two years. Mr. Horlander, we are very proud and honored to dedicate this 1972 yearbook to you! MR. The second year of Community Unit District No. 3 has been a very rewarding one in which the staff has worked hard to bring about many improvements in the educational program of Georgetown High School. Also rewarding has been the student leadership of the Senior Class to help set high standards of conduct and performance in class activities and extracurricular programs. With this caliber of concern and effort by both staff and students, Georgetown High School will continue its development into the area’s outstanding school. MR. DAVIES, PRINCIPAL In our changing society of today, I would like to caution people, of all ages, to be very careful about making changes just for the sake of change. I would like for changes to be made after all research available indicates the change will improve the conditions. What you have should not be torn down because of a dislike. Make sure you can improve upon the condition before you abandon the things you have. SECRETARIES: KAREN MIKEL AUDREY GREENE Pet Peeve: August Pet Peeve: People who complain all the time. Don Boland. Debbie Hepburn, Janet Pribble. Dennis Daulton. Grant. Mike Snider, last year's king and queen Virginia Bell and Larry COLOUR MY WORLD . . . was a prom night we'll never forget. After a delicious dinner we all went into the ballroom to dance. Our lovely queen and her handsome king reigned over the dance with majestic royalty. It was truly a romantic evening for all the G.H.S. couples. 86 The band for prom was Amerika Incorporated . The couples enjoyed the swinging music of the band. After they all got up to dance, the floor space became quite small. There was a post-prom that ran into very early the next morning. I think everyone will agree that the 1971-72 prom is one we can give the Juniors credit for. 87 SCIENCE FAIR is becoming a very important event each year at Georgetown as this year the projects covered the whole floor and stage of the Jr. High Gym. The F-'FA put on a very good assembly during FFA week and used this time to dedicate the Denis McKinney Memorial. The National Flonor Society also had an assembly to initiate the new members and honor the old. It was fun to find out how sounds come about and what distinguishes music from noise. Finally, a ventriloquist fascinated everyone with his voice throwing and dummy. 89 ORGANIZATIONS First row: G. Cornwell. R. Silver. Second row: M. Learnard, G. Taran. Tintorri, G. Richards. C. Smith. The varsity with almost every starter back played excellently and captured second place in the county tourney. We hope that next year's Varsity has the same good season, or even better. This year's Junior Varsity ended with a 9-9 record. As a team they had both height and speed. The aggressiveness, with which they played most of their games, was at times fantastic. The freshman team only won 3 games this year, but the boys showed promise of next year and were eager to play. With the style that these boys have, the Junior Varsity should have a great season next year. 129 130 131 WRESTLING SQUAD IN ACTION Wrestling this year at GHS again proved to be very exciting as the team showed improvement.
