Illinois State Normal University University of Illinois Economics Civics Student Council SENIORS OF 1946: You have the privilege, unlike several preceding classes, of graduating from high school into a world at peace. Accordingly, it is your good fortune to be able to make plans for your future with some degree of certainty. The problems and confusion that remain as an aftermath and as an outcome of war may lead you to believe that if the world can manage to avoid vvar, men will be able to work out all other problems with some degree of satisfaction. It is almost certain that regardless of the kind of social, economic and polit- ical controls that may prevail, those people will fare best who are capable, ener- getic and Well prepared. The thing we can predict with the highest degree of cer- tainty is that the years ahead are going to require sober-minded and clear-thinking people. America's graduates of 1946 are going to be very much involved in the affairs of the world during the next half century. Momentous problems and decisions are to be confronted. lt is fearful to reliect upon the outcome which may result from your approach to these problems.
