YlatLonaJt Ho-no-b Society, The Georgetown Chapter of the National Honor Society was organized in 1934. Each year five per cent of the Junior Class may be elected to membership in the society. The following year an additional ten per cent may be elected from the same class; i. e., the Senior Class. This year, therefore, nine Seniors and five Juniors were elected to membership. Outstanding scholarship is the first qualification to be considered. Members of each class are listed in order of the excellence of their scholarship. Those in the upper third are then rated by members of the faculty on the basis of the following points: Service, Leadership, and Character. Because of this high standard, election to membership in the National Honor Society is universally recognized as a coveted honor and distinction. The Seniors receiving the award are Matilda Fazekas, Doyle Paxton, Elaine Desmet, Frances Bouton. Ralph Neild, Lois Muncy, John Hansgen. Dolores Holmes and Don Newlin. The Juniors are Marjorie Sanders, Margaret Wells, Marjory Stedman. Marcia Miller and Norma Jean Sandy. Seated—Matilda Fa eka . Dolores Holmes. Norma Jean Samt , Marjory Stedman, Frances Bouton. DON NEWLIN Don is president of the Class of 1942, but that position of dignity has not in the least be-dimmed his popularity. His high school work has been centered in the field of agriculture where he has won many honors. He has served as president of the local chapter of Future Farmers of America and was elected State Farmer this year. Certainly one of his greatest thrills was occasioned when he heard himself announced as winner of the Sportsmanship Trophy at the close of the football season. Page Fifteen
