Elizabeth Eickleman, Catherine Naudzius, Lottie Christowski. Betty Johnson. Mona Lewing. NEWSTAFF Seventeen years ago in 1922 the first high school paper was published in Georgetown. For two years the paper, in the form of a magazine, was called the Purple and White . This magazine-paper published once each month, under the direction of Miss Rees, took the place of an annual. In 1924 the magazine took the form of a regular paper made up of four pages published every three weeks. It sent representatives to the Illinois High School Press Association and won recognition in that organization. At the end of seven years this was discontinued because of the depression. For four years the school had no news sheet until in 1935, when the local paper gave the juniors permission to use a page in the weekly publication, calling it the Georgetown High School News. This year the paper has been successfully published by a group of juniors with Beryl Le Count acting as the editor-in-chief. Walter Davis, Barbara Kerans and Ellen Reagan were made assistant editors and make-up associates. Mary Sanders was appointed humor editor, Wayne Felgenhauer sports editor, and the other members were assigned beats as reporters. The staff has taken keen interest in the work this year. Beryl Le Count and Walter Davis represented the paper at the Press Association at Champaign. 16
