THE JUNIOR CLASS OF '39 The story of the Junior Class of thirty-nine of the High School of the City of Georgetown, County of Vermilion, State of Illinois is in this wise: It came to pass in September, nineteen hundred thirty-eight, approximately ninety and four seekers of knowledge started forth in this land of learning. Some came from the class of sophomores and some came from far cities. Now it so happened that among the rulers in this land to which they had come was one known as Miss Alice E. Rees, a professoress of much wisdom: and at the beginning of this third year she spoke unto them, Go gather ye in a body and organize yourselves into a class that ye may gain strength and that your courage may wax hot . And it came to pass that years before schools had decided to participate in many sports. As this third year of the students, now members of the junior class, advanced they proved that they are lovers of sports. George Bromley was elected captain of the basketball team and Mac Wenskunas as football captain. Also the girls have shown their colors in the Girls Athletic Association with Margaret Woodruff as secretary. Now it so happened that the juniors have sponsored the school page of the Georgetown news for some time. This year they would like to think it was more successful than ever before, thanks to their editor, Beryl LeCount. Now, therefore, the juniors have banqueted the seniors from the beginning of time. Money must be obtained before anyone can be banqueted. So the juniors raised money by selling candy and sponsoring the popularity contest. The winners The Junior Class turned to murder, mystery, and seance meetings as a theme for their class play which was given on November 18. Ellen Reagan as a spirit-medium did much with her intense acting to sustain the mysterious atmosphere of the play. The entire cast of seventeen juniors presented their characters in a way which held the interest of the audience throughout the elaborate plot. THE THIRTEENTH CHAIR
