Coaches, Captains, and Trophy Winners Bottom Row: Frank Vcttorel. 1936 Football Captain: Vance Fmory. 1935 Football Captain: John Nield. Sportsmanship Trophy Winner: Mario Viava 1936 Basketball Captain: George Frazier, 1 935 Basketball Captain: Charles Sykes. Track Captain. Back Row: Coach Ivan Burch. Asst. Coach Lyle Hutton. G-Men LLOYD PAX! ON—Fullback—could find no opponents tough enough for him so he started blocking automobiles. Played last half of season in a bird cage, but did a fine job of beating down opposing tackles. DALE MORRIS Tackle—Had only two loves—chewing tobacco and neck tackling. Finished his football playing by scoring a touchdown against Westville by blocking a punt and falling on the ball. VANCE EMORY Guard—Captain—A good leader, hard driving lineman and a boy who would walk to Eleventh Street with the least bit of encouragement. This boy seldom failed to be offside, consequently he made many tackles behind the line. FRANK VETTOREL—Center—Captain-elect—Living proof of the fact that a little man can play a big game of football. Vett ’ is a sure passer and a fine defensive center which is a rare combination. We wish him the best of luck next year. JOHN NIELD—Guard—A hard working boy who played his first season of football and developed into a good defensive guard. Has one more year to play. Was awarded the sportsmanship trophy which is a tribute to his fine attitude. HERMAN MORRIS—Tackle— Hambone is one of those boys who earned three letters in football. Got in condition by tackling telephone posts on E. West Street. JIMMY I UCKER—End—Called Admiral” by his teammates because he was so far in the rear when covering punts. Has only one bad habit— standing on front porches along Main Street. ELLIS SPARKS—End—We were in need of ends when our season opened so we took a fine boy and made a fine end of him until an auto wreck put an end to his playing end. JOSEPH I AMALUNIS—Back—Developed into an excellent blocker and a good runner when he got a little blocking. Has one more year to go. IONY LEMENTAV1CH—Q. Back—Could be relied upon to do three things well—pass, punt, and have a fit of temperament. GEORGE ELLIS—H. Back— Peaches” to his friends: “Poison” to his opponents. Has speed, courage and two more years to play. ROSCOE VOGT—End—A senior boy who tried to fill in for Sparks but lacked the spark. Could have been a fine ball player if he had been serious. HLRBER I LAMBER I—Guard—A fine, fast charging lineman with two more years to go: but just drape this one in black for he is right now in the pilot s seat of a big black ”Farmall” tractor. Track In the past years our track teams have consisted in a large part of Juniors and Seniors who have made a name for themselves in some other sport and became interested in track because it came in the spring. This year we have a nice group of boys, including some Freshmen and Sophomores. Since the material is new and the weather hasn’t been ideal, a winning team is hardly expected this year: but great hopes are held for next year’s results. Bottom Row: John Gloss. Charles Sykes.
