First place winners in choir are Beverley Gervasi, Sara Hausenfluke, Becky Switzer, Pat Laubach, Brian Adkins, Linda Hubbard, and Connie Foster. Such excellent spellers as Linda Ekdahl and Vivian Ickes are extremely at- tached to their dictionaries. They won District 2nds in Spelling and plain writ- ing. Because of his profound interest in number combinations Brian Adkins was selected to attend the Nation- al Science Foundation Summer Math program at the University of Texas. He was one of about thirty students chosen for this honor out of three hundred applicants. Only thinking men such as these three can bring home all the honors in science. Brian Adkins won 3rd in District, George Woolsey 2nd, and Bob Giddings, who won lst in District went on to win third place in the State. A quick wit for figures assured John Clifford a 3rd place in number sense. 8 Under the discriminating and thoughtful coach- ing of Mrs. McCoy, Bill Elliott went all the way to Third in State in prose reading.
