ALBERT MUNSON ALBERT LANDRY CARL STRIED WILFORD BANE Tackle Guard - Captain Back Back - Captain October 29 - Eagles vs. Tigers The high-flying Eagles from Georgetown met and vanquished the Belton Tigers in one of the thrilling football forays of the season. The final score was 33-20, November 5 - Eagles vs. Yoemen The Georgetown Eagles met the Cameron Yoemen in a crucial district contest which proved to be a battle to the finish. However, the Eagles were edged out 7-0, November 12 - Eagles vs. Panthers After suffering a '7-0 defeat by the Cameron Yoemen, the Georgetown Eagles met and blanked the Rosebud Panthers in one of the most spectacular games of the football season by a score of 34-0. HOWARD LANDRY JERRY KING C. LUNDQUIST JIMMY RICE Guard Center Tackle Tackle October 1 - Eagles vs. Bulldogs Georgetown outlasted the McGregor Bulldogs in an exciting 28 to 21 victory. Wil- ford Bane was outstanding for the Eagles, scoring 22 of the 29 points. October 8- Eagles vs. Trojans The West Trojans tramped the Eagles 38 to 12. The only Eagle scores came in the third quarter with Wilford Bane carrying the ball. West scored in all quarters. October 22 - Eagles vs. Tigers Georgetown took its first district game 25 to 6 over the Rockdale Tigers. ln the second quarter, Joe Barrington, a tackle, intercepted a pass and ran 96 yards for the touchdown. DON PARKER KENNETH GREEN DONALD BARRINGTON JERRY BANE Tackle Guard End Back November 19 - Eagles vs. Ducks The Georgetown Eagles, in the last game of the season, defeated the Taylor Ducks. The Ducks were in the lead in scoring until the last two minutes of the game when Wilford Bane ran 65 yards with aid of good blocking to put the Eagles on the twelve yard line. The Eagles ran it over for the touchdown to bring the score to stand 20-17. Just for good measure the Eagles racked up another seven points, and the game ended 27-17. The Eagles' Season always rest on the Taylor game as to whether it will be a success or a failure. This year it meant more be- cause it also determined whether the Eagles would share the 22AA crown. Summary of the Eagle Season The 1954-55 Eagle Football season proved to be one to be long remembered by the Eagle team and fans. The Eagles played good clean ball all season and even though they did lose three games they were never beaten. 'I'hey ended the season with a 7-3 standing, The Eagles who made the Austin American First All District Team were: Barney Stanley, Wilford Bane and Curtis Gibbs, Bubba' Kimbro and Earl McKeithan were on the Second All District Team. Coach Birklebach was named All Central Texas Coach of the year, In Cameron game Bane carries the ball.
