DB. S. S. IIILL A college, like a Tree, is known by iTs fruiTs. SomeTime ago, a college presidenT, Traveling on a Train, found himself siTTing by a young man who had iusT graduaTed from college. The college presidenT made himself known To The young man and They Talked abouT college and The prospecTs of The fuTure for college graduaTes. This young man said ThaT his goal in life was To make money. l-le made a furTher sTaTe- menT, saying ThaT, l will make iT honesTly if l can, buT if l cannoT, l will make iT any way l can. Somebody had failed This young man. l know you will agree wiTh me ThaT all The blame for his aTTiTude cannoT be held againsT The college from which he gradu- aTed. In my iudgmenT, we would go back info The home and The communiTy ouT of which he came. The responsibiliTy of The sTudenT begins wiTh The parenT in The home and confinues wiTh The communiTy school and The local church. Much had been done To deTermine This young man's course and conducT before he enfered college. If a child is forTunaTe enough To be born in a Chrisfian home and To aTTend a school wiTh ChrisTian insTrucTors and To have The bless- ings of a church ThaT is loyal To ChrisT and his Teachings, Then The ChrisTian college can do iTs work of Training in a saTisfacTory way. Georgefown College was founded for The purpose of Training ChrisTian leaders. Georgefown places characTer as The firsT aim and The mosT imporTanT asseT in The sTudenT's life. WiThouT faiTh, The sTudenTs of C5eorgeTown College would fail Their alma maTer, as well as Their God. We, Therefore, pledge To accepT our re- sponsibilify and do our uTmosT To educafe ChrisTian young people for The responsi- biliTies ThaT will Tall upon Them in The near fuTure.
