DRAMA AND SPEE The organization of the Speech Department at George- town College dates from Septem- ber, 1929. Courses offered in- clude: Fundamentals of Speak- ing, Advanced Public Speaking, Interpretative Reading, Prin- ciples of Argumentation, Play Production, and the Teaching of Speech in High Schools. In a Democracy the ability to express ideas is just as essential as the capacity to have ideas. Extra opportunities for speak- ing are provided by the Forensic Fraternity, Pi Kappa Delta, which sponsors training in Ora- tory, Extemporaneous Speaking, and Debate, and The Mask- raftersi' trains in amateur the- atricals, which is of great value in personality development and in W h o l e s o m e utilization of leisure time.
