Zehmer B.A., William and Mary Extended a Full Year Senior social studies was extended to a full year during the 1962-1963 school session. This is a course required of all seniors and includes govern- ment, economics and a study of communism. A unit in advertising taught by Mr. Alvin Phaup high- lighted the economic class. With the goal of teaching students apprecia- tion and loyalty to American ideals, the history de- partment has launched a five-fold program. Eighth- graders are introduced to a study of United States government. Freshmen study world history including ancient civilizations through the present century. Twentieth Century history is a sophomore elective, which readily prepares the upcoming juniors for a more extensive study of United States history. Sen- ior government and economics complete the history sequence. Seniors Walter Hendricks and Richard Woodlee examine
