But there is a long hard road to climb. The first two years of his education appear as an endless mountain of information which must be crammed away for future reference. Then begin the clinical years during which he learns that medicine consists not only of science, but also of art. The art of medicine is most difficult to achieveg it is not taught but experienced, and is as difficult to attain as any esthetic experience. Nothing in creation that is worth achieving is gained with- out difficulty, but the art of medicine brings rewards every inch of the road. Looking back along the way we came is as gratifying as looking forward to a future of personal satisfaction of service to our art.
