COMMUTERS Upperclassmen who have opted for the off-campus life can find the adjustment difficult. The security of coming back to a place to live in the fall is replaced with the hassles of trying to find an apartment. Con- stant company, shaving cream rights, and maid and meal services are little pleasures taken for granted in the dorms. But Commuters are the majority of the Student body whether they walk, ride, or take the bus and GW would not be GW without them. COMPUTER CENTER Two nights before finals and a three hour run time, why, why does everyone wait until the last minute to finish their programs. Shit . . . third run and it still doesn’t work ... 2 AM and no keypunch machines are open, doesn’t anyone go to sleep around here, maybe if 1 come back at 4, I can have the place to myself . , . D DORMS The GW dormitory experience is just that: an ex- perience. From the ZOO to Menopause Manor to the Monastary, the sound of stereos and midnight visitors can be heard cross campus. But be wary; who knows what lurks in those dark stairways at night: it could be Ann Webster . . . DROP ADD Dropping and Adding means a return to sanity for a large portion of the student body. The hopelessness of making up a 40 on the first exam and the idea of taking 21 hours finally sink in. Escaping from a par- ticularly bad course is roughly analogous to finding out she ' s not pregnant after all. Whether it’s by drop- add slip or petition, the effect is still the same: a chance to drop back, punt and try again next semes- ter. E ELEVATORS Besides using the hidden stairways to get to the fifth floor of any GW buildings, there is also a little- known devise called an elevator, a small usually non- moving compartment stuck between floors with a door that occasionally opens on the wrong floor. A few r years ago, several inebriated Calhoun Hall students wanted to replace the non-functional eleva- tor with one of Rice Hall’s wonderfully quick eleva- tors. Before they could pull off their theft, the Univer- sity installed a new one in Calhoun Hall, 28 Candids
