BLJMPIES It’s as far away as the telephone and you can get Coors by the six-pack too. And at 2 AM there ' s nothing better or worse than calling Blimpies and ordering a “Blimpie ' s Best” with Italian meats and cheeses. The only thing missing is the Rolaids. BOOKSTORE If you see a large gathering of persons by the magazines in the bookstore, you know it’s PJoyboy delivery day, The bookstore also sells Playgirl, Swank, Oui, Penthouse, Hustler, Gallery and other educational publications. In addition they offer GW T-shirts, candy, toilet articles, greeting cards, comic books, posters, and GW mugs (good for plants or pencils). On their spare shelf, they occasionally stock textbooks. BOOT Washington has more than its fair share of highway traps for the frequent motorist: Metro Construction, rush-hour traffic, endless pedestrian tourists and the D.C. driver; but none is as perilious as the BOOT. One officer holds the record of placing 127H boots on illegally parked cars in one day. The half a Boot? The owner showed up while the officer was waiting for the meter to run out. (see commuters, parking) CAPITOL HILL C Capitol Hill is the home of Washington ' s two-ring circus — the Senate and the House of Representatives. It features boring speeches, colorful delaying techni- calities by Sen. James Allen of Alabama, and at least several dozing congressmen — the legislative branch of our government in action. COMMUTERS The GW commuter is a hardy breed who contends with difficulties the resident student never dreams of facing, Getting out of bed at 6:30 to miss a 7:00 bus or being stuck in traffic for 35 minutes could dishearten the strongest of wills. Unfortunately, many students who do not live on campus do not feel they are fully a part of GW. More than distance separates them from all-nighters in a Thurston social lounge, the wall shattering stereos and 2 AM fire drills. Although only 2,000 people live in dorms, activities center around the resident students, C and ids 27
