President Lloyd H. Elliott President and Mrs. Elliott at a student reception Challenging students to “take the first step toward a cleaner world and a more peaceful society,” President Elliott is leading the University to greater expansion and academic excellence. In promoting what he labels the “emerging stature of the George Washington University, he has cooperated with and sought advice from students and faculty alike in a dedicated effort to make those decisions which will best benefit the University community. The building program which he initiated upon his arrival in 1965 is now rapidly materializing and the new 8 million dollar Student Center which he proposed is under construction and scheduled to be completed in the fall of 1970. 20
