HOMECOMING Jimmy Dorsey’s orchestra, playing at the Homecoming Dance on Saturday night, wound up one of G. W.’s finest Homecoming weekends. Festivities included the crowning of the Homecoming Queen Friday night, the G. W.- Maryland game Saturday and the Homecoming Dance at Uline Arena Saturday evening. Lisner Auditorium was ahlaze with lights and among the visiting celebrities were Jay Carmodv, Evening Star drama critic who acted as Master oi Ceremonies; Arch MacDonald and Dave Pollen, who together with Dean Henry Grattan Doyle judged the Homecoming Queen contest. Saturday morning at 10:30 alumni registered in Columbian House. Cups were awarded to Pi Beta Phi and Pi Kappa Alpha for bringing hack the most number of alumni from their chapters to this Homecoming. The Parade formed on campus and proceeded to Griffith Stadium, passing the judges’ stand on Constitution Avenue, where the floats of Sigma Nil. Tail Kappa Epsilon and The Sailing Association were judged first, second and third respectively. Following the unfortunate Homecoming game, the gala Homecoming Ball was held at Uline Arena with the newly crowned queen, Lois Anne Brackett, Sigma Kappa’s candidate, presiding. The planning and coordinating of all Homecoming festivities was under the direction of Tom Dougherty and his co-chairmen, Marilyn Brownfield and John Douglas.
