— (Charles iHrrbrrt lorkton Rear Admiral, U, S. Navy, Retired. Admiral Charles Herbert Stockton, President of the George Washing- ton University, graduated from the U. S. Naval Academy in 1865. Since that time he has been in command of several U. S. vessels. He was presi- dent of the Naval War College at Newport, R. I., from 1898-1900 and was then selected to command the battleship Kentucky. Admiral Stockton is the author of various contributions to many pe- riodicals and is also a compiler of the history of the U. S. Naval Asylum. He is an authority on International Law and is at present lecturing upon that subject at the University where he is honored and revered by the en- tire student body. 3 HSU
