DEDICATION DICK CASTILE RICHARD FUKUWA Mr. Castile, a teacher at George Washington for 13 years, will not return to school due to illness. Many students here at G .W.H .S. have not had the privilege to have a class with him. He was one of the best civics teachers here. While at G .W.H .S. he was involved with Model United Nations, and helped to start the Teachers Aide Program. He also had alot of pro- grams out of school, such as helping farm workers. Mr. Castle's interest in students was reflected by their admiration and trust; several times he was selected by the students as the best or most popular teacher. Mr. Castle is a very nature-orientated person. A Sierra hiking trip led to his accident. In a recent letter to Mr. Hinze he said I will miss the contact with young people, but do not intend to let it die. George Washington has lost one of the best teachers it ever had. All that know Mr. Castle are very lucky. Morris Lam who Massed away June 9, 974 would have been a senior this year and would have graduated in June of 1975. Morris was active in school, participating in such activities as ROTC functions and sales around the school. He had a pleasant disposition and was always cheerful and smiling, ready to help a friend. Morris was the kind of person who would let you know what he thought if he disagreed with you. Although many of you did not know him, those of you who did will not forget Mr. T-Bird. -Terrance Woo Mr. Richard Fukuwa, one of the most popular teachers at George Washington died suddenly of cancer on May 8, 1974. Some will remember him as a teacher in our Mathematics Department and in Judo classes. But others will remember him not only as a teacher, but as a warm and understand- ing friend. He lived a active life, always full of vitality. Perhaps one of his most distinguishing qualities was his sincere concern for the students. A hard working and diligent in- dividual, he was respected by all that met him. Let us appreciate all he has done for us and let us remember him the way he would have always wanted us to remember him. -Jenny Toriumi 2 -Tina Murray fall 1975 Joe Manzano-Board Member i Jackie Tom-Chairperson Vicky Mihara-Board Member Marvin Chow-Board Member Paula Horn-Board Member Jody Hirota-Board Member Is it superman? We lost only 2 games in the entire year—losing 36-46 against Mission in a regular league game and then 34-39 against Galileo in the semi-finals, a team we once beat by 35 points. This powerful team of athletes was led by All-City Jeff Burns and Mike Johnson, who Coach A says should had been nominated for All-City. The GW Cross Country Team had their most successful season since 1969, as they took the AAA Crown. The Harriers were paced by sophomore Steve DeFount who captured 1st place, also setting a city record of 2.6 on the new mile course. Other champion performances were turned in by senior Joe Lee, Mike Toscanini, Jeff Knapp, and Glenn Gimenez, taking 2nd, 5th, 6th, and 18th place All-City respectively. The Sophomore team finished 5th place All - City with Eric Harvison being the top sophomore performer. 40 soccer’74 (Left-Right) Front: FONG, Jerome; DAWYDIAC, Walter; DAVIDSON, Rodney; TU, Paul; SEETARA, Jesus; CHOI, Allen. 2nd Row: WONG, Patrick; RO LIZ, Pedro; KOMATSU, Hiroyuki; SCHWARTZ, William; ERTSEY, Robert. 3rd Row:Coach Sven ANDERSON; SCHAADT, Chris; FONG, Justin; TSOKIAS, Jimmy; ANDERSON, Sven; Anonymous. The soccer team ended a disappointing 1974 season with their loss to the McAteer Jaguars. It had been a tough year for the team which con- sisted mainly of first-year men. Becuase of their inexperience, the Eagles had difficulty in sustaining any effective offensive drives. Forwards were Paul Tu, Walter Dawydiac, Eiji Hagiwara, and Bobby Ertsey. Halfback positions were taken care of by Hiroyuki Komatsu, Chris Schaadt, and Pedro Roliz. Jimmy Tsokias, Justin Fong, and Sven Anderson, Jr., handled the fullback spots, with Ken Charis covering the goal. Although the Eagles didn't do well this sea- son, Coach Anderson looks forward to a good year next term with the return of this year's players. Experienced in the league and now seasoned players, these veterans should make fora successful '75 season. sports girls’ tennis (Left-Right) 1st Row: HIROTA, Vicky; TERAZAWA, JoAnn; STOREY, Meg; CAHN, Tara. 2nd Row: CHOW Lorraine; WOO, Priscilla; WONG, Eugenia; HOM, Paula; WONG, Mae. Singles were led by JoAnn Terazawa, followed by Priscilla Woo. The third place singles was held by Meg Storey. Doubles were led by the undefeated team of Paula Horn and Eugenia Wong, followed by Lorraine Chow and Vicky Hirota. The team managers and alternates for this year were Tara Cahn and Mae Wong.
