Jackie Jew Fall President G. S. S. The Girl’s Service Society known on campus as the GSS, was started in the first year of the existence of George Washington High School. Charter members were five in number, and the purpose of their society was to pro- mote the high morale and general welfare of the school. Today the GSS has fifty mem- bers, but its purpose remains unchanged. By helping to keep order at rallies, helping to supervise clean-up on campus, and by per- forming other such acts of service, the GSS has become one of Washington’s greatest assets. GSS members are chosen upper division girls who have shown high qualities of service, scholarship, and citizenship. Being a GSS is both a privilege and the greatest honor that can be bestowed on any girl.
