FOREWORD • • • Our book of Golden Memories tells a story not only of our school, George Washington High, but also of our city, San Francisco. Many scenes that are familiar to us are recorded within this book so that we can recall with pleasure our rides on the cable car, trips to Fisherman's Wharf, and views of San Francisco from Coit Tower. All these little experiences have become as much a part of our lives as have the football games and dances that we have attended while in school. San Francisco is our treasure found by the bay; George Washington offers us precious thoughts for the future. Our school has given us the education that is so neces- sary in our world today. Our instructors have given us opportunities to gain success in our chosen courses of study; the results of our learning rest in our abilities to make use of our knowledge. We have worked hard, but we have also played hard. We attended football games and track meets, dances and sport nites; we experienced a lot of fun. Our school has given us treasured moments that we shall relive again as we read through our book of Golden Memories of George Washington High School. The Editors
