ARTHUR JOHNSON F LL TEH 1943 The Fall 1943 term began with a bang. The first day of the semester, an issue of the Eagle was given to every student. The third day an outdoor ceremony was held to plant the ivy which was brought from Mount Vernon directly to our school premises. Two days later another rally was held to promote the sales of student body cards. The success of this rally is demonstrated by the fact that for the first time in the history of George Wasliington High School, every pupil was a student body card holder. One of the most noteworthy events was the winning of the Hearst national history contest by Ernest Page, a German refugee. The success of this term was due to the able leader- ship of Art johnson, president, Phyllis Frates, vice- president, Barbara Chambers, secretary, Geraldine Prexiderit Small, treasurer, Felix Ordoquihandy, yell leader, and jack Anderson, athletic manager. Surely a group of 0 . . Washington s finest. PHYLUS FRATEs BARBARA CHAMBERS GERALDINE SMALL ERSKINE SHAW' FELIX ORDOQUIHANDY IALK ANDERSON PAGE TEN
