W 1 W w if 14 Weed With Zfou, me. Cqmminga: Mr. Cummings, it's getting near the end of our three years at Washington and before we leave I just wish to tell you how we feel. All of us have had the opportunity to come in contact with you through the years and have grown to like and respect you. Many happy days have been ours at Washington, and now we all go forward to repay our country for those happy times, to do something that will make secure similar days for the future. just as you, Mr. Cummings, joined twenty-five years ago, many of us will go into the armed forces today, some to face the grim realities of war and return as meng some will not come back. Others will go into factories and offices to do war work-not in defense, but in ojjfenre industries. Although we leave George Washington with some reluctance, we go forth eagerly, glad that we may do our part. Determination is in our hearts so that when we sing, O say can you see by the dawn's early light, what so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming ?, it shall never again be with doubt or fear-but shall always be as a cry of new hope! We graduates of Spring 1942, the second class to graduate during war-times, say not good-bye to our teachers and school, but just until we meet again.
