In Indy And The Continental ay Continentals Reign No. 1 With only a minute or so to go, the Continentals knew officially they were State Football Champi- ons, A cheering crowd received the long awaited announcement: The 1974 State Football Champs the Washington Continentalsn. Th e team lined up on the field to be pre- sented individual medals. Th e championship trophy was presented to Coach Springer and Co-Captains Phil Mayfield and Danny Butler. Festivities following were: Pre- sentation of the State trophy to the school, recognition from the School Board, Newspaper and the Governors ofiice, and a sock hop celebrating the victory with disc jockeys, Roger Holloway and H. Every where y o u look-purple a n d white-Students cheering- chanting We Want State, a game against the No. 1 ranked team in the State-Richmond, all rock the gym at the pep session prior to the Semi-State playoff. Saturday, November 9, 1 9 7 4 , Richmond, Indiana, was the scene of the clash between the Richmond Red Devils and the Washington Continentals. The Juniors spent many hours preparing for the Prom and in rais- ing money to support such an ex- travaganza honoring the Seniors, With Senior Nancy Marion being crowned Queen.
