Regardless of the vo- cation of his parents, nature summons him to the duties of human life. To live is the trade I wish to teach him. On leaving my hands, he will not, I grant, be a magistrate, a soldier, or a Priest. First of all he will be a man, and all that a man ought to be, he can be when the occasion re- quires it, just as Well as anyone else can, and fortune will make him change his place in vain, for he will always be in his own. Jean Jacques Rousseau TGGETHER I think Unity is Trust, Faith and Pride in everyone that has to do with our system. Letting no one say me and never accepting the word In, Every person has a res- ponsibility and the responsibility is to one another. i Kevin Weatherby Yes, we are as Oneg One that learns, earns, shares, and cares about everyone and everything. Donna Moore Togetherness is like a Sunrise. It's so close yet so far. If we all stand together, hand in hand, we will reach our Sunrise, and a new day will have dawned. Jody Cusson Unity is what brings each of us together in sharing and supporting Washington High School. Patrice Graves Unity is the gathering of minds focused on a common goal. Denise Kelly Togetherness is W h a t the stu- dents at George Washington High School need more t h a n anything else. When we accomplish this, we will be able to move all obstacles that are in our path to success. Armand White WE ARE - to prove that We 4 football team put It all Champlonshlp. This was the 13th year of the program and Washing- ton High School has had a winner every year except one. After a New York to Paris flight, the 30 students took a bus to St. Breiuc, France. Each student lived with a French family for five weeks and became like a member of the family. My family really treated me well and made me feel at home. The only catch to the program was a No English rule. It was only a problem in the beginning, Joe commented, and after a while I didn't even think about it. The last four weeks were spent living in dormatories and attending classes at the school each morning with emphasis on speaking constant French. The group took trips and excursions and spent the last four days in Paris before heading home. Clubs Spur Student Involvement Individuality is a vital part of the learning process. Clubs are one way an individual may express his ideas or skills. Many students find this expres- sion possible through participation in Student Council. Their biggest project each year is Homecoming. Other students find their oppor- tunity for self-involvement avail- able through the Exercise in Know- ledge team. This program gives students the chance to compete with o t h e r students throughout the State of Indiana for general knowledge. For the student who is challeng- ed by education, and achieves a high academic standing, National Honor Society may become one of his goals. SPIRIT IS .... A GWHS Junior!! As a class the Juniors walked away with the spirit stick again and again with their en- thusiasm. This enthusiasm carried over to the money making projects spon- sored by the Juniors. Selling mums, carnations, and candy, all added up to the J unior-Senior Prom. Kimmy Benge, Donna Brissey, and Kathie Gaddie were chosen as Junior m e m b e r s of the Prom Queens Court held at the Columbia Club on May 31, 1975. The class of '76 showed much spirit, togetherness, a n d enthusi- asm during the ye ar with good leadership from their ofiicers and their sponsor, Mrs. Deborah Snyder. INVOLVED . . summarizes the class of '78 Although most of the freshmen had never heard of a homecoming, or a spirit week, they soon became just as involved in school spirit as the upperclassmen. During spirit week the freshmen decorated the lower halls, and demonstrated their togetherness as the class of '78, by wearing football badges. Most of the art work was designed by Charles Wallace with Kerri Benge as chairman of decorations.
