There were ladies and there were gentlemeng but all well bred young people were ladies and gentlemen. The terms carried no particular distinction. Today our Knights and Ladies are a group of young people set apart. To be- come a member of one of the organiza- tions is one of the highest honors a student of YVashington can obtain. The VVinter Knights were led by Skip Hop- kins, a good looking, brown haired young blade. They indulged in such helpful school services as the muscle straining job of scrubbing the inside of the gym and washing the outside of the bungalows in preparation for a paint job. VVith the beginning of each day some of the Knights hurried into the yard to raise the Hag and again at three- thirty they hurried out to lower it. You see, one of the services the Knights per- form, in addition to clearing the halls 'Wvhen the Bell ls Ringing for a fire drill, is that of seeing that the Hag is properly taken care of. The Ladies were shepherded through the semester by Maxine Smoot, who was kept quite busy preparing for the Ladies' Alumni Banquet. This dinner is held each year in the cafeteria. The Ladies of yester-year and those of today have great fun reminiscing about every- thing from the day 'WVhen l was a Lady to the length of womenis dresses. The Ladies joined the Knights in spon- soring the Knights and Ladies Dance. This dance is always held in the gym, but you would never have known it was the gym last November after Carolyn Nelson, head of the decorating com- mittee, changed it into an Qld Dutch Garden.
