Clan Co-Sponior ENGLISH DEPARTMENT In 193 5 when George Washington High School was opened, there were seven English teachers. Now, twenty-five years later, there are seventeen English teachers. The English Department was quite active this year. In addition to the regular English classes, speech, dramatics, and journalism were taught. Under the direction of Mr. Deucalion Gregory, the department sponsored the publication of the COMPASS, the SURVEYOR, and the LITTLE HATCHET. Assisting Miss Kinder is a staff of four guidance counselors. The guidance counselors help students with both their schedule problems and college problems. The Guidance Department is also in charge of various intelligence and aptitude tests, College Board Examinations, and scholarship tests. MK.
